60lb and 70lb HPG PowerTube Resistance Bands Safety Recall

Stop using the 60lb and 70lb PowerTube bands immediately. These bands can forcefully separate from the handle during use, posing a risk of serious injury from impact hazard. Set them aside. Do not inspect or test them yourself. To qualify for your remedy, you will need to cut each affected band in half and email a photo to support@homeprogym.com. Full instructions below.

Who is affected

Customers who purchased a PowerTube Stackable Resistance Bands Set containing a 60-pound (Purple) or 70-pound (Gray) band from homeprogym.com or Amazon.com between 10 December 2025 and 11 April 2026. Sets and bundles were sold for between $39 and $296.

Each band is labelled with its rated resistance and clearly identifiable by colour. "HOME PRO GYM" and either "ULTRA 60 LBS" or "ULTRA PLUS 70 LBS" are printed on the affected bands' strap. If your set contains a 60-pound (Purple) or 70-pound (Gray) band, your set is covered by this recall.

The recall covers the 60-pound (Purple) and 70-pound (Gray) PowerTube resistance bands. They are sold as part of the following sets and bundles:

Not part of this recall: The 150lb 5-band set does not contain the 60-pound or 70-pound bands. Bands rated 10lb, 20lb, 30lb, 40lb, 50lb, 80lb, and 90lb are not affected and can continue to be used as normal.

Reason for the recall

The recalled 60-pound and 70-pound PowerTube resistance bands can forcefully separate from the handle during use, posing a risk of serious injury from impact hazard. To date we have received 5 reports of resistance bands separating from the handle. No injuries have been reported.

The underlying cause is a dimensional tolerance issue in the band end fixture. In some units, the wooden bead stopper that secures the resistance tube inside the handle fitting may be undersized. Under load, this can cause the band to separate from the handle.

Not every unit is affected, but because there is no reliable way to identify affected units from the outside, we are taking action on all 60-pound and 70-pound bands from this production batch as a precaution.

This matter has been voluntarily reported to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) under Section 15(b). We are cooperating fully with CPSC throughout the process.

  2. Cut your affected band(s) in half and email a photo of the destroyed band(s) to support@homeprogym.com with your order number. This is required to process your remedy.
  3. If you are unable to use the form, you may also email support@homeprogym.com directly with your order number, preferred remedy, and the photo of your destroyed band(s).
  4. All remedies are processed directly by HomeProGym. Do not return the bands.

How to qualify for your remedy

For your safety, and to qualify for either remedy option, all affected 60-pound and 70-pound bands must be cut in half and rendered unusable. This ensures the affected bands cannot be used by you, a family member, or anyone else who may come into contact with them.

Three steps

  1. Cut your affected band(s) in half. Using sharp scissors, make a single clean cut all the way through the resistance tube, through the middle of the band. Lay the band flat on a hard surface and do not stretch it while cutting. Please exercise caution: keep the sharp end of the scissors pointed away from you safely. If your scissors are not sharp enough to cut through the band easily, do not use force. Your safety is the priority.
  2. Photograph the destroyed band(s). Take a clear photo showing each affected band fully cut through. Include all affected bands in the same photo if you have more than one.
  3. Email the photo to support@homeprogym.com with your order number. Once received and verified, we will process your selected remedy option accordingly.

Why is HomeProGym conducting this recall?
We are conducting this recall to keep our customers safe and to prevent injuries. A manufacturing tolerance issue was identified in the band end fixture of our 60-pound and 70-pound PowerTube resistance bands. In some units, this can cause the band to forcefully separate from the handle during use, posing a risk of serious injury from impact hazard. We are working with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission to remove these bands from use.
How do I know if my bands are part of the recall?
The recall covers only the purple 60-pound and gray 70-pound PowerTube resistance bands purchased between 10 December 2025 and 11 April 2026 from homeprogym.com or Amazon.com. Each band is colour-coded and has "HOME PRO GYM" and either "ULTRA 60 LBS" or "ULTRA PLUS 70 LBS" printed on the strap. Bands of other resistance levels in the same set are not affected.
What is the problem with the 60-pound and 70-pound bands?
In some units from this batch, the internal stopper that secures the resistance tube inside the handle fitting can be undersized due to a manufacturing tolerance issue. Under load, this can cause the band to forcefully separate from the handle, which poses a risk of serious injury from impact. To date we have received 5 reports of separation. No injuries have been reported.
My bands appear to be operating okay. Can I continue to use them?
No. Even though your bands appear to be operating normally, we are asking all customers to immediately stop using the affected bands and participate in the recall. Not every unit is affected, but there is no reliable way to identify an affected unit from the outside, so we are recalling all 60-pound and 70-pound bands from this production batch as a precaution.
How do I claim my refund or store credit?

Why do I need to cut my bands?
Cutting your bands serves two purposes. First, it ensures the affected bands cannot be used again by you or anyone else who may come into contact with them, which is the safest outcome for the affected units. Second, the photograph of your destroyed bands is your proof of remedy, which is required to process your Store Credit or Refund. You do not need to ship the bands back.
I no longer have my receipt or order number. Can I still get a remedy?
Yes. Email support@homeprogym.com with your name, the email address you used at the time of purchase, and any details that may help us locate your order. We will confirm eligibility and arrange your remedy.
Will I receive a refund? How much?
Yes. You can choose either a $50 HomeProGym.com store credit (one flat amount per recall response) or a refund of the value of your affected band(s) attributable to your original purchase. Refund amounts vary by the product you purchased and are shown in the refund table in the "Your remedy options" section above. Refunds are issued to your original payment method on confirmation. If your original order included a discount, the same discount applies to the refund amount.
What about my other bands?
Only the 60-pound and 70-pound bands are part of this recall. Your 10lb, 20lb, 30lb, 40lb, 50lb, 80lb, and 90lb bands are not affected and can continue to be used as normal.
